TwitterShots
A single developer can build a useful screenshot-and-API core (HTML-to-image rendering, thread unroll, basic API) quickly, but reproducing TwitterShots' added features (AI translation, video conversion, polished integrations, priority support and scale) would be more work and is out of scope for a minimal self-hosted replacement.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All TwitterShots alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Take a Tweet/Thread URL → fetch tweet text/media → render pixel-perfect HTML/SVG using brand theme → rasterize to PNG (or export SVG/HTML) → return file via API or UI.
What it still won’t have
- AI-powered translation (30+ languages) integration and quality
- Tweet-to-video conversion feature (vertical video generation)
- Certified Zapier / n8n / Make integrations and turnkey automations
- Priority human support and SLA-backed uptime
- Polish around multi-resolution presets, Unsplash background integration, and built-in branding UI
What remains hard
- Integration maintenance
Zapier Automate Zapier workflows
- Brand trust

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal TwitterScreenshots replacement using Node.js (Express) + Puppeteer (or Playwright) + a small SQLite/Postgres DB. Core features in scope: 1) single Tweet/Thread capture by URL (fetch tweet text/media with Twitter API or HTML fallback), 2) HTML/SVG theming engine with customizable background, fonts and optional logo, 3) headless rendering to PNG (and return SVG/HTML), 4) simple REST API with API-key auth, rate limiting and a small job queue for bulk/thread processing, 5) basic web UI to paste URL and download results. Out of scope: AI translation, Tweet→video conversion, commercial multi-tenant billing, and certified Zapier/n8n integrations. Require error handling for network/Twitter-rate errors, retries, logging, tests for rendering output and API endpoints, and Docker deployment scripts.

How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 4 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- Evidence score63
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
