Image and video decision
Streamloop
A competent developer can build a single-channel replacement using open-source media servers and a small web UI in about a week, but Streamloop's distributed, SLA-backed streaming infrastructure and operational polish are hard to reproduce; keep paying for scale and reliability, build only for limited self-hosted needs.

No open-source build does this yet
Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.
What a replacement has to do
- Accept video uploads, schedule and order a playlist, stream encoded output to RTMP/YouTube, monitor and auto-restart unhealthy streams, simple web UI to manage streams and destinations.
What it still won’t have
- Managed multi-node distributed encoding and automatic rehoming at scale
- Vendor uptime SLA and 24/7 monitoring staffed by the vendor
- Polished studio UI and onboarding credits/payment integrations
- YouTube vetting/managed connection conveniences and audited integrations
What remains hard
- Infrastructure at scale
Always on: >99.9% uptime, auto-restart included.
- Execution quality
Distributed encoding and broadcast across multiple workers. If a node fails, your stream is rehomed and resumes in seconds.

Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal Streamloop replacement: use mediamtx as the media server, Node.js + Express backend, React admin UI, Postgres for metadata, and S3-compatible storage for uploads. Core features in scope: user sign-up/login, upload MP4 (5 GB limit), create playlists, schedule/start/stop streams, publish to arbitrary RTMP endpoints and YouTube via OAuth, health checks and automatic restart of streams, and per-stream credit accounting. Out of scope: multi-destination simultaneous streaming, distributed multi-node autoscaling, and billing portal beyond Stripe one-off charges. Include error handling, logging, automated tests for API routes, and Docker Compose deployment with a systemd service for long-running media server.

- Evidence score57
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
