Image and video decision

novoads

Because Novoads publishes an MIT repo, a technical user can self-host or stand up a minimal replacement in about a week to replicate core script→actor→video flows while accepting loss of the vendor's curated actor catalog, managed credits, and commercial support.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All novoads alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Generate script (LLM) → select actor and voice → synthesize/compose actor video with product assets → render and export HD video → deliver via simple web UI and REST API

What it still won’t have

  • Proprietary, curated 100+ actor catalog and any proprietary actor-model fidelity
  • Managed credits, billing, and the out-of-the-box UX/administration Novoads provides
  • Founder-led support channels and commercial SLAs
  • Prepaid credit pricing and the company’s per-model credit accounting

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Build a self-hosted Novoads-lite using Node.js (Express) + PostgreSQL for metadata + Redis queue + Python workers (FastAPI) for model inference. Core features in scope: 1) REST endpoints to create generation job, list actors, and retrieve finished videos; 2) simple web UI to input/paste product URL or copy, choose actor and voice, preview generated script, upload product image, and submit a job; 3) a worker that runs LLM script generation (OpenAI-compatible or local LLM), TTS and lip-sync, then composes a talking-actor video (use open-source video/face-synthesis components from the repo), uploads artifacts to S3-compatible storage, and marks job complete; 4) job queue with retries, logging, and credit-metering stub (local DB counter); 5) automated tests for endpoints and the worker flows, and Docker Compose for local GPU worker + web. Out of scope: training custom actor models, building a 100+ curated actor catalog, payment/billing gateway integration, and managed multi-tenant billing. Include error handling, input validation, retries for model failures, and unit/integration tests.

  • Evidence score99

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
