Image and video decision
StreamHouse
A technical user can reproduce a narrow, single-tenant 24/7 re-broadcast pipeline using existing OSS media servers and FFmpeg, but matching StreamHouse's managed scalability, multi-destination polish, uptime and billing features is a larger operations effort better left to the commercial service unless you only need a limited workflow.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All StreamHouse alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Ingest video files, pre-encode them, assemble a looping playlist, and push a continuous RTMP/SRT stream (optionally multistreamed) to destination platforms.
What it still won’t have
- Commercial SLA and 99.9% uptime guarantee and priority queue
- Polished multi-destination management and billing portal
- Built-in scheduler, storage quotas and UI polish for non-technical creators
- Operational reliability of an always-on, managed encoding fleet and bandwidth at scale
What remains hard
- Infrastructure at scale
Cloud-Based Live Streaming That Scales
- Execution quality
No OBS. No Dedicated PC. No Complex Setup.

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a single-tenant 24/7 pre-recorded streaming service using Docker, FFmpeg, mediamtx (or SRS) for streaming, Postgres for metadata, MinIO/S3 for storage, and a small React + Node.js dashboard. Core features in scope: user signup/login, media uploads with server-side pre-encoding (FFmpeg) into a consistent profile, media library with thumbnails, playlist builder that auto-loops, scheduler to start/stop playlists, a player/orchestrator that runs an always-on FFmpeg/mediamtx process per active stream and pushes RTMP/SRT to configured destinations, storage/usage tracking, and basic health checks and logs. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing portal, autoscaling cluster orchestration, 4K transcoding, and commercial SLA. Require: robust error handling for failed encodes/egress, automated tests for API endpoints and scheduler logic, and Docker-based deployment manifests for a single VM plus S3-compatible storage.

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
