Scaloom
A capable developer can build a useful subset (opportunity detection, LLM replies, scheduling, reporting) in ~40 hours, but reproducing the product’s claimed production-grade warmup safety, multi-client scale, and polished integrations is non-trivial — so building a narrow self-hosted replacement is realistic, but matching the full paid product is not.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Scaloom alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Discover relevant subreddit opportunities, generate contextual replies with an LLM, schedule/post replies, track account warmup progress and export activity reports.
What it still won’t have
- Mature moderation/safety rules and tuning for avoiding Reddit limits and bans
- Any proprietary dataset or subreddit matching corpus claimed by the vendor
- Polished multi-account/client management and UI polish
- Built-in warmup heuristics proven at scale and uptime SLAs
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal AI-powered Reddit marketing web app using Node.js (Express) + React, Postgres, and OpenAI (or compatible) for generation. Scope in: (1) ingest Reddit posts/comments via Pushshift or Reddit API and store in Postgres, (2) implement keyword-based opportunity ranking and an endpoint that returns top N opportunities, (3) integrate OpenAI to generate contextual replies with adjustable tone, (4) implement a queuing scheduler and a browser-automation (Puppeteer) poster for one-account posting, (5) provide a React UI to review drafts, approve single-click posting, schedule posts, view warmup progress, and export CSV reports. Out of scope: multi-account management, paid-tier billing, advanced anti-detection warmup algorithms, and built-in enterprise analytics. Include error handling for API failures and rate limits, logging, and unit/integration tests for core endpoints.

How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 4 cited sources+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score64
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
