Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All postbishop alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Compose a post, schedule a publish time, and have a worker deliver the post to connected social accounts at the scheduled time.
What it still won’t have
- Polished multi-platform integrations and connector maintenance
- Hosted SLA, user support, and uptime guarantees
- Any proprietary analytics or platform-specific optimizations
- Branded UI/UX and team/collaboration features beyond single-user
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a self-hosted social media scheduler using Next.js for the web UI, Node.js/Express for the API, Postgres for storage, Redis for job scheduling, and a background worker (BullMQ or node-resque) to execute scheduled posts. Core features in scope: OAuth connector for at least one social platform, compose/post editor with preview, schedule-at-datetime, persistent storage of drafts and schedules, background worker with retries and idempotency, basic logging and error handling, and unit/integration tests for publish flow. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, advanced analytics dashboards, and enterprise compliance. Include health checks, HTTPS configuration instructions, and a small CI test that exercises the OAuth connect -> schedule -> publish path.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Build verdict base78
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- Evidence score86
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
