NOCAPMOCAP

A technical user can build a limited text/video→R15 export workflow, but reproducing the product-quality model, plugin polish, and production UX is multi-week and likely requires access to proprietary motion models or substantial ML work—so keep paying for full parity.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All NOCAPMOCAP alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Generate motion from text or video → convert/retarget to Roblox R15 rig → export FBX → import into Roblox Studio or other engine.

What it still won’t have

  • Proprietary HY-Motion-1.0 model quality and tuned weights
  • Polished Studio plugin UX and one-click import
  • Credit system, UI history storage, and retention policies
  • Commercial support, priority or dedicated support tiers
  • Community gallery and Discord-driven prompt sharing

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a minimal NoCapMocap replacement using Python (FastAPI) + React. Core features in scope: 1) Prompt-based motion generation integration (call either a hosted motion model API or a packaged open model) with request queuing; 2) Video upload + pose extraction pipeline (OpenPose/MediaPipe) producing smoothed keyframes; 3) Retargeter that maps keyframes to a Roblox R15 skeleton and emits FBX (use pyfbx or FBX SDK bindings); 4) Web UI to submit prompts/videos, preview animations in-browser (three.js), manage a simple history, and consume credits; 5) A small Roblox Studio plugin (Lua) that fetches a generated animation and applies/pastes to an R15 rig. Out of scope: training new motion models and production-grade horizontal scaling. Include error handling, input validation, authentication, and unit/integration tests for the retarget and export pipelines.

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
