Image and video decision

Draw3D

A capable developer can build a useful sketch-to-image and basic scene-export replacement using open-source inference projects, but reproducing the full hosted product (fast multi-model video rendering, polished UX, gallery and scaling) is larger and operationally heavier.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Draw3D alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • User draws or composes a scene → client uploads sketch and scene metadata → server runs a sketch-to-image model (and optional video/animation pipeline) → return render(s) and provide export/downscale/upscale options.

What it still won’t have

  • Production polish and polished UX (mobile/tablet pen optimizations)
  • Scalable hosted GPU inference, queues and autoscaling for many creators
  • Proprietary model tuning and any closed-source optimizations
  • Gallery/community features and affiliate program integrations
  • Guaranteed SLAs, commercial support and billing infrastructure

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a self-hostable minimal Draw3D replacement using: React + TypeScript frontend, Node.js + Express backend, Postgres for metadata, S3-compatible storage, and a GPU worker host running PyTorch with Hugging Face Diffusers. Core features in scope: 1) a touch/pen-capable 2D sketch canvas that saves strokes and exports JSON; 2) a simple 3D blockout editor (primitive shapes + camera) that serializes scene composition; 3) server endpoint that accepts sketch+scene JSON and runs a sketch-to-image diffusion pipeline (use Diffusers pipelines) returning PNGs; 4) optional video generation job that composes frames and encodes MP4; 5) image upscaling (Real-ESRGAN or equivalent) and export to S3; 6) basic auth, user workspace, gallery with public/private flag, and a download endpoint. Out of scope: training new models, full marketplace/affiliate program, multi-tenant autoscaling, advanced UI polish and mobile-specific optimizations. Require error handling, logging, unit tests for API endpoints, end-to-end test for the sketch→render pipeline, and deployment manifests (Docker + docker-compose or Kubernetes).

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 4 cited sources+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score64

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
