Contents Pilot

A technical user can realistically implement a useful self-hosted replacement in about a week of focused work; nothing on the provided page indicates durable moats that make DIY infeasible.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Contents Pilot alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • User provides topics/brand voice → generate post drafts via LLM → edit/save drafts → schedule/post to social APIs → track basic status.

What it still won’t have

  • Proprietary templates or brand-optimised prompt library (if Contents Pilot provides one)
  • Any built-in analytics/insights dashboards not implemented
  • Official provider support and hosted uptime guarantees
  • Any closed integrations or enterprise features vendor may offer

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a single-tenant web app (Next.js + React frontend, Node/Express backend, Postgres DB, Redis for jobs) that generates social media posts using a configurable LLM API (OpenAI-compatible). Core features in scope: user sign-in (email+password), prompt+template editor, generate button that calls the LLM and stores drafts, draft editor with history, scheduling UI that enqueues jobs in Redis/worker, connectors to post to Twitter/X and LinkedIn using their APIs (mock connectors allowed for development), background worker to execute scheduled posts and record delivery status, and a minimal audit log. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, advanced analytics dashboards, and enterprise SSO. Include error handling for API failures and rate limits, basic tests for generation, storage and scheduling flows, Docker-based deployment and a README with setup and env var descriptions.

How the score was reached

  • Evidence score86

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
