Image and video decision
clippo
A technical user can build a basic auto-clip-and-post workflow (ingest, highlight selection, render, YouTube uploads) using existing OSS components, but Clippo's agent integrations, proprietary layout engine and production polish make the paid product still valuable for automated, always-on creator workflows.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All clippo alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Ingest a stream/VOD URL, extract and transcode source video, run automated highlight detection to pick short moments, render vertical Shorts with basic layouts and captions, and schedule/post clips to YouTube via API.
What it still won’t have
- Perceptron auto layouts (proprietary layout/formatting engine)
- Agentic control API and out-of-the-box AI-agent integrations
- Priority support, onboarding, and managed uptime/ops
- Polished unlimited workflow, pre-built scheduling and scaling
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal Clippo-like service using Python (FastAPI) + PostgreSQL + Redis + Docker. Core features in scope: 1) accept a pasted YouTube/Twitch/VOD URL and download the source to object storage (S3-compatible); 2) run ASR (whisper or FunASR) and a simple heuristics-based highlight scorer to pick N clips per source; 3) transcode and render vertical Shorts using moviepy or FFmpeg with caption burn-in and three layout presets (classic, 50/50, full zoom); 4) OAuth-based YouTube integration and a scheduler to auto-upload queued clips at configured intervals; 5) a minimal web UI to submit URLs, review auto-selected clips, configure schedule, and view upload history. Out of scope: training custom models, multi-tenant billing, cross-posting to TikTok/Instagram, and advanced Perceptron auto-layouts. Include error handling, retries for downloads/uploads, unit tests for core APIs, and Docker Compose for local dev and deployment.

How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52

- 4 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- Evidence score63
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
