Social media decision
AI-powered social media extension for everyone
A single developer can build the core suggestion-injecting browser extension and a small usage-tracking backend in about a week, but reproducing the vendor's analytics polish, cross-platform integrations, scale, and commercial UX/support is larger than the minimal replacement.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. What a replacement has to do
- Detect social compose boxes on social sites, generate suggested text via an LLM, insert/replace content in the page, and track generation quota/usage.
What it still won’t have
- Vendor-hosted analytics/dashboard polish and growth features
- Proprietary integrations and partner relationships
- Dedicated support and managed uptime
- Marketing, brand trust, and a one-click install experience
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal cross-browser extension (Chrome + Firefox) using Manifest V3, TypeScript, React for the popup/options UI, and a small Node/Express backend on a $5/mo VPS for usage tracking. In scope: content script that detects compose boxes on Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn and shows a "Suggest" button; background service to call an LLM API (configurable OpenAI-compatible endpoint) and return suggestions; per-account monthly generation quota enforcement; options UI to set a custom system prompt and view remaining quota; basic analytics endpoint that stores per-account generation events in Postgres (hosted on the same VPS). Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, enterprise integrations, advanced analytics dashboards, and partner integrations. Require input validation, retry/backoff for model calls, authentication for the backend, graceful UI error messages, and unit/integration tests for the content script, background API calls, and backend endpoints.

How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score67
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
