Developer tools decision

SVELTESHIP.COM

A competent developer can reproduce the core value (a SvelteKit SaaS starter with auth, payments, email, UI, and deploy) in about a week; the paid product mainly saves setup time, packaging, and vendor support.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All SVELTESHIP.COM alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • A minimal replacement is a SvelteKit + TypeScript starter wired to Supabase auth/DB, Stripe billing/webhooks, Mailgun emails, Tailwind/DaisyUI UI, and a Cloudflare Pages deployment pipeline.

What it still won’t have

  • Lifetime updates and bundled documentation distributed by the vendor
  • Packaging polish, pre-built UI components and curated tutorials
  • Vendor support channel for setup questions (email/X contact)
  • Any small, proprietary wiring or convenience scripts included in the paid repo

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a minimal SvelteKit + TypeScript starter app and deployment pipeline using SvelteKit (Svelte 5), TailwindCSS + DaisyUI, Supabase (Auth + Postgres), Stripe, Mailgun, and Cloudflare Pages. In scope: scaffold routes (home, dashboard, login, pricing, checkout, webhook endpoint), Supabase signup/login and profiles table, Stripe checkout/session creation and webhook handling to toggle subscriptions in Postgres, Mailgun transactional email sending (magic links, receipts), basic reusable UI components (Navbar, Hero, Checkout button), environment-based config, and CI deploy to Cloudflare Pages. Out of scope: a full admin UI, multi-tenant billing reconciliation, analytics dashboards, or training/custom LLMs. Include error handling, input validation, secure storage of secrets, and automated tests for auth, payment flow, and webhook processing.

How the score was reached

  • Build verdict base78
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 3 cited sources+3
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score93

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
