Developer tools decision
Nichetools
A capable developer can build a smaller searchable catalog and prompt viewer in about a week, but the paid product's large proprietary idea database, ProvenScore data, and curated monthly additions are the durable value you'd lose by rebuilding.

Not priced
No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.
$100one-off34 h to build
$20/mo3 h/mo upkeep
No published price to break even against.
No open-source build does this yet
Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.
What a replacement has to do
- Search and browse a catalog of tool ideas with attached metrics and a build prompt; view idea details and copy the 13-section build prompt for implementation.
What it still won’t have
- The existing proprietary catalog of 104,886 ideas and the curated monthly drops
- ProvenScore and precomputed evidence/confidence metrics
- Backlink database and other curated SEO submission guidance
- Lifetime updates bundled into the one-time purchase
- Built-in 13-section prompts for 650 curated ideas and integration with Claude/Codex targets
What remains hard
- Proprietary data

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal self-hosted searchable tool-idea catalog using Next.js (React) + Postgres + TypeScript. Core features in scope: CSV/JSON import of idea rows into Postgres; full-text search API and filters for metrics; React list and detail pages showing title, metrics (search volume, difficulty, traffic potential), and a copyable 13-section build-prompt text block; admin page to upload monthly CSV updates and mark curated ideas. Out of scope: payment/checkout integration, backlink database scraping, proprietary ProvenScore calculation, and analytics dashboards. Required: robust error handling, input validation, API tests, and basic end-to-end tests. Deployable on a single VPS (e.g., DigitalOcean) with a managed Postgres instance.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Hard moats found in the evidence-3
- Evidence score53
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
