ClawHost

A single competent developer can build and run a minimal one-click deployer (similar to Coolify) in about a week and keep it running; use the referenced open-source PaaS projects if you want faster self-hosting.

No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All ClawHost alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Provide a lightweight self-hosted service that accepts a user repository or artifact, launches it in a container, exposes a web endpoint, and shows deploy status in a simple UI.

What it still won’t have

  • Managed uptime, scaling and backups from the vendor
  • Vendor support and SLAs
  • Any proprietary deployment automation or integrations the vendor provides

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a minimal self-hosted one-click deployer using the following stack: React frontend, Node.js/Express API, Postgres for metadata, Docker/Docker Compose for builds/runs, and Caddy as reverse proxy. Core features: admin auth, repo URL input and git clone, Dockerfile detection and image build, container run and public URL provisioning, deploy logs and status dashboard, one-click rollback, basic health checks, and background job runner for builds. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, autoscaling across multiple hosts, and marketplace integrations. Include error handling, retries for failed builds, unit tests for API routes, and an e2e test that deploys a tiny demo app.

How the score was reached

  • Build verdict base78
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 3 cited sources+3
  • Evidence score86

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
