Your GenLab

A capable developer can reproduce a useful self-hosted agent builder using open-source pieces (see prior art), but re-creating the full hosted product experience (managed hosting, payments, polished onboarding, and marketplace) is larger and operationally heavier than a minimal build.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Your GenLab alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Author a prompt/template, attach domain knowledge documents, ingest embeddings into a vector DB, call an LLM for chat/runtime, and embed the chat widget on a site.

What it still won’t have

  • Polished no-code onboarding and managed hosting/operations
  • Any proprietary or curated marketplace of ready-made agents
  • Company support/SLAs and managed security/compliance assurances
  • Potentially built-in payment processing and subscription management

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a minimal self-hosted AI-Agent platform using Next.js (TypeScript) for frontend, Node/Express for API runtime, and Supabase (Postgres + pgvector) for storage. Core features in scope: (1) UI to create/edit agent prompt templates and config, (2) document upload + chunking + embedding pipeline storing vectors in pgvector, (3) runtime that composes context and calls OpenAI-compatible LLM APIs, (4) embeddable chat widget + simple playground, (5) Dockerized deployment and Terraform/Cloud run config for one production instance. Out of scope: multi-tenant marketplace, built-in payment/subscription management, advanced analytics, and training proprietary models. Require: error handling, input validation, basic unit and integration tests for ingestion and runtime, CI pipeline, and README with deployment steps.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 3 cited sources+3
  • Evidence score60

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
