AI assistants and search decision
Writesonic
A capable developer can build a narrow AI-visibility prototype (tracking prompts, auditing pages, drafting fixes) for much less than Writesonic’s price, but Writesonic’s proprietary dataset, enterprise integrations, and compliance offerings make a full replacement impractical for a solo builder.

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Writesonic alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Poll AI answer surfaces for tracked prompts, detect competitor citations and visibility gaps, generate recommended on-page content/technical fixes, apply or export fixes and measure change in visibility over time.
What it still won’t have
- Writesonic’s 2 billion+ AI conversation dataset
- Prebuilt integrations and enterprise connectors (Looker Studio, GSC, GA4, WordPress)
- Agent fleet and automation runs quota
- Enterprise compliance, SSO, and dedicated strategy services
- Scale, freshness, and coverage across 10+ proprietary AI platforms
What remains hard
- Proprietary data
Our AI Search Dataset covers 2 billion+ real AI conversations across 10 platforms and 50+ markets. Compare brands, find prompts, spot trends. Updated weekly.
- Brand trust
Trusted by 10,000+ leading Marketing teams of all sizes
- Compliance and regulation
SSO/SAML, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build an AI-search-visibility prototype using Node.js + PostgreSQL + React. Scope: (1) scheduler that runs 50 prompts daily against an LLM API (OpenAI/GPT) and stores raw answers, (2) parser that extracts cited external URLs and counts brand mentions, (3) simple crawler that audits robots.txt and schema for a set of pages, (4) LLM-based content fixer that generates an FAQ block and suggested paragraph for a page, (5) dashboard to show visibility % per brand, action items, and track before/after metrics. Out of scope: integrating with 10+ proprietary AI platforms, enterprise SSO, billing, and large-scale dataset collection. Include error handling, retries for API calls, backoff, basic tests for scheduler, parser, crawler, and CI script to run them.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Pay verdict base20
- An open-source build was found+5
- 4 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- Hard moats found in the evidence-6
- Evidence score25
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
