Design and diagrams decision
Visualize AI
A competent developer can build a smaller web replacement (photo->prompt->AI generate->save) in about a week using hosted image-generation APIs and the cited open-source floorplan UI as optional help, but reproducing the polished native app, App Store distribution, built-in measurement features, and any curated marketplace/UX would require more work or maintain paying the existing product.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Visualize AI alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- User uploads a photo, enters a style/prompt, service calls an image-generation model, returns redesigned images for preview and saving.
What it still won’t have
- Polished native iOS app experience and App Store distribution
- Any proprietary style library, curated product shopping or in‑app marketplace
- Built-in precision measurement tools and native device integrations
- Existing user base, ratings, and App Store-managed subscriptions
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal web-based AI room redesign tool using React (TypeScript) frontend, a Node.js (Express) serverless backend (AWS Lambda), S3 for image storage + CloudFront CDN, and an external image-generation API (OpenAI/Stable Diffusion API). Core features in scope: photo upload with client-side crop/resize and EXIF removal; prompt entry UI with style presets; backend proxy to call the image-generation API with the photo+prompt and save results to S3; result gallery with download/share links; simple user accounts with email sign-in and a paywall endpoint (Stripe) to gate generation. Out of scope: native iOS App Store integration, marketplace/shopping/catalog, advanced measurement tools, multi-user collaboration. Include input validation, server- and client-side error handling, retries for API calls, unit tests for backend routes, and end-to-end tests for the upload+generate+download flow.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- Evidence score60
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
