Tailwind Plus

Don't reimplement — use the official open-source repo and ship Tailwind Plus components by self-hosting and customizing the provided packages; setup is a small one-day engineering task and maintenance is minimal.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Tailwind Plus alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Install or clone the upstream Tailwind Plus/component package, import components into a project, customize tokens/theme, build and publish a local component bundle for reuse.

What it still won’t have

  • Official commercial support or guaranteed updates from Tailwind Labs
  • Proprietary paid assets or subscription-only templates if any
  • Hosted distribution/marketplace conveniences

What remains hard

  • Brand trustTailwind is supported by incredible partners and sponsors who make it possible for a team of talented designers and engineers to maintain the framework full-time.

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a runnable local installation of Tailwind Plus components using the official Tailwind CSS repo: clone https://github.com/tailwindlabs/tailwindcss, create a new Vite + React project, install the project's Tailwind packages, add @tailwindcss/vite plugin to vite.config.ts, copy Tailwind Plus UI Blocks/templates into src/components and src/pages, configure tailwind.config.js with a custom theme and CSS variables, add npm scripts for dev, build, and preview, produce a distributable bundle (npm pack or local registry) and a small Storybook/docs site to preview components. Out of scope: reimplementing Tailwind's compiler or creating proprietary paid assets. Require error handling for build failures, automated tests for at least one example page, and CI script to run lint/build.

How the score was reached

  • Self-host verdict base92
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 3 cited sources+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score99

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
