AI assistants and search decision

Transclipper

A small technical team or single developer can reproduce the core transcript + rewrite workflow (one-week build) using open-source components, but the full hosted product's polished AI agents, scaling, team workspaces, and proprietary viral scoring are not trivial to match.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Transclipper alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Download a short-form video by URL → extract audio and transcribe → detect hook and story structure → generate hooked rewrites via an LLM → save/export transcript and analysis.

What it still won’t have

  • Proprietary viral-score and tuned AI agents/allocated agent-run quotas
  • Polished bulk-import at scale and team workspace features
  • HD no-watermark video downloads and cover image generation
  • Priority support, hosted backups and enterprise SLA
  • Browser extension and turnkey integrations listed as "coming soon"

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Build a minimal TransClipper replacement using Python (FastAPI) + React. Use PostgreSQL for metadata and S3-compatible storage for media. Core features in scope: 1) Paste-a-video-URL endpoint that downloads video and cover image (ffmpeg+yt-dlp or platform-specific fetch), 2) audio extraction and transcription pipeline (ffmpeg -> OpenAI Whisper or other ASR API) producing timestamped transcript, 3) simple virality analyzer that detects a 0–5s 'hook' window, scene-change boundaries (PySceneDetect), CTA detection via regex/heuristics, and a basic viral score, 4) LLM-backed script/hook rewriter endpoints (OpenAI-compatible prompts, rate limiting, retry/backoff), 5) React UI to paste links, show transcript+analysis, generate rewrites, and export TXT/PDF. Out of scope: multi-user team roles, browser extension, HD no-watermark downloads, enterprise billing, advanced proprietary scoring. Require error handling for failed downloads/transcriptions, input validation, tests for API endpoints and analysis logic, and Docker-compose deployment with an example cloud deployment guide (DigitalOcean or AWS).

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
