CRM and sales decision

Streak

A small team can build a useful, narrow Gmail-integrated CRM (pipelines, email logging, mail-merge, AI summaries), but reproducing Streak’s full polished UX, broad integrations, enterprise controls, mobile apps, and scale requires significantly more product and operational work.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Streak alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Turn Gmail threads into pipeline records, sync emails to those records, run simple mail-merge/outreach, and surface AI-generated deal summaries.

What it still won’t have

  • Deep, polished Gmail-embedded UX and mobile apps
  • Enterprise features: custom roles, data validation, archived user handling
  • Native marketplace integrations (LinkedIn, dialers) and Zapier breadth
  • AI credits pooling and built-in credit purchasing/billing
  • Large-scale reliability, priority support, and security/compliance guarantees

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a minimal Gmail-native CRM using a Chrome extension + Node.js + Postgres. In scope: a Chrome extension that injects a pipeline/deal sidebar into Gmail, OAuth2 to read/send and label threads, backend REST API (Node/Express) with Postgres schema for pipelines/boxes/stages/contacts, mail-merge endpoint that personalizes templates and sends via Gmail API, and AI integration (OpenAI) to generate deal summaries and autofill a few fields. Include user auth (Google OAuth), a single-user/team mode (shared contacts), basic permission checks, error handling, logging, and unit tests for backend endpoints. Out of scope: mobile apps, enterprise RBAC, billing/credits UI, and 3rd-party connector marketplace. Deliver Dockerfiles for backend and Postgres, deployment scripts for a small VPS, and an install/run README.

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
