Project and task management decision
Serene
A small, focused macOS productivity app that automates timers, app-blocking and ambient audio is realistic for a single competent developer to build and maintain; there are no documented durable moats on the supplied pages to prevent replacement.

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.
What a replacement has to do
- Create focused work sessions that block distracting apps/websites, run a timer, play optional background audio, and surface session summaries/notifications.
What it still won’t have
- polished native App Store distribution and code-signed macOS packaging
- brand recognition and existing user base
- any non-public integrations Serene may include
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt
Build a native macOS productivity automation app using Swift + SwiftUI. In scope: a menu-bar app that (1) starts/pauses/stops focused work sessions with a configurable timer, (2) blocks or hides a user-configured list of apps and toggles Do Not Disturb while a session is active, (3) plays/controls ambient audio from bundled tracks or local files, (4) records session history to a local SQLite DB and shows simple session summaries. Out of scope: cloud sync, multi-device account support, analytics dashboard, and App Store notarization. Include comprehensive error handling for app control and audio playback, unit tests for timer and persistence logic, and end-to-end tests for session flow.

How the score was reached
- Build verdict base78
- 3 cited sources+3
- Evidence score81
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
