Email and newsletters decision

SendCore

A technical user can build a useful subset (email campaigns, forms, basic automations, Shopify/WooCommerce sync) using existing open-source tools, but reproducing Sendcore’s full deliverability, SMS/push, managed support and polished integrations is substantial and operationally heavier than a simple DIY.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All SendCore alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Import store customers → build segments → design and send campaigns → run automations (triggers, waits, branches) → capture leads via forms → view revenue attribution

What it still won’t have

  • Deliverability service, warm-up and dedicated deliverability audits
  • 24/7 vendor support and account expert assistance
  • Polished native integrations and one-click migrations from competitors
  • Built-in AI assistant and hosted AI integrations out of the box
  • SMS/global carrier coverage and push notification infrastructure

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Build a self-hosted minimal Sendcore replacement using PostgreSQL, Node.js (Express) backend, React frontend, Redis for job scheduling, and Amazon SES for email. Include: 1) Shopify/WooCommerce import connector (customers, orders, products) with OAuth/keys; 2) contact & segment storage, CSV import/export; 3) simple automation engine supporting triggers, waits, branches and email actions; 4) campaign composer with HTML templates and A/B subject test; 5) embeddable signup form/popups and a lead-intake API; 6) basic reporting that attributes imported orders to campaigns/automations. Out of scope: SMS carriers, push notifications, multi-tenant agency features, and advanced deliverability audits. Provide error handling, input validation, background job retries, CI tests for API endpoints and automation flows, and Docker Compose dev + Terraform snippets for deploying to a single VPS or small cloud instance.

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
