Creator and commerce decision
Sellfy
A capable developer can build a useful storefront for digital and simple physical sales, but reproducing Sellfy's fulfillment network, integrated marketing stack, and hosted conveniences would be difficult to match; keep paying if you need those full services.

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need — the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship.
What a replacement has to do
- Allow a creator to publish products (files or physical items), display a storefront, accept payments (Stripe/PayPal), and deliver digital files or trigger fulfillment for physical orders.
What it still won’t have
- Built-in print-on-demand fulfillment network (11 fulfillment centers)
- Sellfy-managed PCI/checkout hosting and 0% transaction-fee guarantee
- Built-in email marketing credits and integrated upsell/cart-abandonment automation
- Store migration and priority support services offered on higher plans
- Out-of-the-box PDF stamping, download-limiting, and fraud/refund dispute tooling
What remains hard
- Infrastructure at scale
Create print-on-demand merch. Custom print-on-demand without upfront investment, delivered swiftly from the nearest one of our 11 fulfillment centers .
- Brand trust

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal self-hosted creator storefront using Node.js (Express), React, PostgreSQL, and AWS S3 for file storage. Scope: product admin (CRUD), file upload to S3, product listing pages, cart and checkout, Stripe and PayPal integration (server-side charges and webhook handling), signed download URLs for digital products with single-use/download-limit support, basic order dashboard, and email notifications via Mailgun. Out of scope: print-on-demand fulfillment orchestration, drag-and-drop visual page builder, advanced marketing automation, and multi-region fulfillment. Deliverables must include error handling, input validation, unit tests for backend payment and delivery flows, Docker-based deployment, and a README with setup and environment variables.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 5 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- Hard moats found in the evidence-3
- Evidence score60
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
