Season Palette
A technical user can reproduce the free web quiz, palette pages, and template-based styling in about a week, but the product's image-based AI features and native iOS app experience (the vendor's premium differentiators) are not captured by a small self-build.

No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.

No published price to break even against.
No open-source build does this yet
Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.
What a replacement has to do
- User answers short visual quiz → app classifies into one of 12 color seasons → server returns a curated color palette → generate simple styling recommendations (wardrobe/makeup/jewelry) from templates → show/save results to a user profile or shareable page.
What it still won’t have
- Image-based AI analysis (iOS app's deeper, image-based features)
- Polished native iOS app experience and App Store distribution
- Any proprietary styling models or behind-the-scenes AI the vendor uses
- Mature branding, journal content, and ongoing product polish

Runnable build prompt
Build a single-repo web service (React frontend + Node/Express backend) that reproduces the Season Palette web quiz and palette result pages. In scope: (1) a responsive 3-question visual quiz UI with accessible image examples and validation; (2) a deterministic mapping engine that assigns one of 12 seasons from quiz answers with unit tests; (3) static palette assets (color swatches, hex codes, names) and a styled palette result page; (4) a template-based recommendation generator that produces short wardrobe/makeup/jewelry suggestions (implement both a deterministic template path and an optional OpenAI-backed path behind a feature flag); (5) lightweight persistence of user sessions and saved results in SQLite and a simple REST API; (6) CI, error handling, input validation, and end-to-end tests. Out of scope: native iOS app, advanced image-based computer vision, and large-scale analytics. Include error handling for API failures, schema validation, and automated tests for quiz logic and result generation.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- Evidence score52
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
