CRM and sales decision
Salesmate
A capable developer can build a useful, narrow CRM replacement (contacts, pipelines, email, simple automations) over several weeks, but reproducing Salesmate’s full ecosystem—telephony, AI agents, 700+ integrations, enterprise features, and product polish—is impractical for a solo builder.

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need — the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship.
What a replacement has to do
- Manage contacts and companies, track deals through pipelines, send and track templated emails, run simple automation flows (Smart Flows), and view a unified activity timeline/conversations.
What it still won’t have
- Built-in telephony (calling, SMS, call transcription) and associated carrier rates
- 700+ pre-built integrations and marketplace ecosystem
- Salesmate AI Agents / credit-based AI agent platform
- Enterprise features (audit logs, dedicated IP, dedicated account manager, SSO) and 24x7 support
- Polished product updates, QA, and platform-level security/compliance work
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal CRM web app using Next.js (React) frontend, Node/Express backend, and Postgres. Scope: contact/company/deal models, pipeline UI with drag/drop stage changes, REST API, email templates and sending via SendGrid (includes open/click tracking), a simple event-driven automation engine (webhooks or background worker using BullMQ) that runs flows to update records or send emails, and a unified activity feed showing emails and notes. Out of scope: built-in telephony/SMS, large-scale integrations catalogue, AI agents, enterprise audit logs, and multi-tenant enterprise admin features. Include authentication (JWT), basic RBAC, error handling, automated tests for API and core flows, and deployment scripts for Docker + a single managed Postgres instance. Provide README with setup, migration, and sample data scripts.

How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 5 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- Evidence score63
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
