Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need — the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship.

What a replacement has to do

  • Send personalized cold-email sequences to a list of prospects, schedule follow-ups, track opens/clicks/replies, and manage replies in a simple pipeline.

What it still won’t have

  • Proprietary 852M+ verified contact database and realtime enrichment
  • Built-in deliverability infrastructure, mailbox buying & pre-configured DKIM/SPF/DMARC flow
  • SOC 2 / ISO 27001 / GDPR certified compliance and associated documentation
  • Native AI Sequence Copilot and paid AI credits
  • Built-in dialer, phone-number credits, and unified multichannel contact data

What remains hard

  • Proprietary data852M+ contacts across 42M+ companies with 50+ buying signals.Filter by industry, revenue, lookalikes, and tech stack. Every email is verified before sending.
  • Compliance and regulationSOC 2 ISO 27001 GDPR

Runnable build prompt

Build a minimal cold-outreach app using Node.js (Express), Postgres, and React. Core features in scope: CSV prospect import, prospect CRUD, template editor with merge tags, sequence scheduler that sends messages via an SMTP provider (SendGrid/Postmark) with per-account sending, basic open/click tracking, reply ingestion via IMAP/webhook, and a simple Kanban pipeline UI. Out of scope: building or pricing a proprietary lead database, mailbox purchasing marketplace, SOC2 certification, AI enrichment models, and a dialer. Require error handling for failed sends and webhook retries, unit tests for the scheduler and tracking, and end-to-end tests for import→send→reply flow. Provide Docker Compose for local dev and a Terraform snippet for one small cloud VM and managed Postgres for production.

How the score was reached

  • Hard moats found in the evidence-6
  • Evidence score57

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
