renderahouse
A capable technical user can build a narrower self-hosted replacement (upload → headless Blender renders → shareable viewer) in a few weeks, but reproducing the full hosted product experience, scale, and polished billing/credit features is non-trivial.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All renderahouse alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Accept an uploaded drawing or 3D model, convert/normalize it, run a render job with preset materials and lighting, produce multiple lighting/style variants, return downloadable photoreal images and a web viewer link.
What it still won’t have
- Polished, battle-tested UI and UX refinements (sharing, collaboration, comments)
- Large-scale credit accounting, rollover and fine-grained billing features
- High-performance, optimized proprietary rendering engine and scale optimizations
- Tight integrations for many input formats with one-click cloud conversion and preview
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal self-hosted Render-a-House replacement using: backend in Python (FastAPI), job queue (Redis + RQ), headless Blender for rendering, object storage (S3-compatible), and a React frontend using Babylon.js for model viewing. Core features in scope: upload and validate .skp/.glb/.obj, convert to glTF, enqueue render jobs, headless Blender scripts to apply material presets and automated lighting/time-of-day variants, store generated images, show a web viewer with orbit and saved views, provide shareable links and downloadable images. Out of scope: multi-user billing/credit system, advanced collaboration threads, mobile app. Include error handling for corrupted uploads, retries for failed jobs, basic unit tests for API endpoints, and an infra README with docker-compose and a simple cost estimate for a GPU render worker.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 4 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score67
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
