Creator and commerce decision

Presscart

Do not build: the hard value is the large, vetted publisher marketplace and Placement Assurance (marketplace liquidity) which a single developer cannot realistically reproduce; a narrow DIY ordering and tracking UI is feasible but loses the publisher inventory and editorial service.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Let a user browse publisher listings, submit a guided story brief, pay for a chosen placement, have the content produced, submit to the publisher, and track the live URL or refund.

What it still won’t have

  • 1,500+ vetted publisher network and per-outlet inventory/liquidity
  • Established Placement Assurance and refund handling backed by the vendor
  • Editorial team for human writing, verification, and publisher compliance
  • Brand trust and documented case studies/corporate relationships

What remains hard

  • Marketplace liquidityA marketplace of 1,500+ media opportunities
  • Marketplace liquidity1,500+ publishers with exact outlet prices visible before checkout.

Build a minimal Presscart-style pay-per-placement marketplace using: Next.js (React) frontend, PostgreSQL, Node.js/Express backend, Stripe for payments, SendGrid for email, and a small worker (Node) for publication checks. Core features in scope: publisher catalog CRUD and searchable listing, guided Q&A authoring UI that saves articles as HTML, checkout flow creating orders and charging via Stripe, admin workflow to export submission packages and send to publisher contacts, background job to check a submission URL for publication and trigger a refund flag. Out of scope: recruiting or onboarding real publishers, running an editorial team, and wholesale/volume membership. Include error handling, retries for external APIs, authentication (simple email+password), unit tests for core APIs, and deployment scripts for one small VPS (Docker + docker-compose).

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
