Prep For Certs
A small technical team can build a usable practice-test site and basic analytics, but reproducing the vendor's seeded question bank, editorial updates, AI assistant and product polish is time-consuming; a narrowed self-hosted replacement is realistic, full parity less so.

No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.

No published price to break even against.
No open-source build does this yet
Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.
What a replacement has to do
- Present randomized exam-style questions, collect answers, show explanations and track user progress/streaks.
What it still won’t have
- Large pre-curated question bank and editorial updates
- Brand, existing userbase and aggregated analytics
- AI study assistant tuning and any proprietary content curation
- Polish, QA and cross-device UX from the hosted product
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt
Build a self-hosted certification practice web app using Node.js (Express) + PostgreSQL + React. Core features in scope: (1) import/seed a question bank and serve randomized exam-style question sessions via REST, (2) user signup/login and JWT-based auth, (3) answer submission, scoring and per-question explanations, (4) progress tracking with daily streak calculation and a small analytics dashboard, (5) Stripe subscription integration (webhooks) to enable unlimited mode. Out of scope: training models, AI study assistant, mobile-native apps, large editorial content creation. Provide Dockerfiles, CI (GitHub Actions), sensible error handling, input validation, tests for API endpoints, and scripts to deploy on a single VPS (Linux) with backups and migrations.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- 3 cited sources+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score59
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
