Design and diagrams decision
PostNitro
A single technical user can reasonably build a minimal carousel generator (content→render→export) in about a week, but reproducing PostNitro's scheduling, integrations, template breadth, hosted media library and multi-model image offerings would be substantial work — consider self-hosting the core generator and keeping PostNitro for publishing and integrations.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All PostNitro alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Input a topic → generate slide text with an LLM → render slides into images/PDF using templates → download/export
What it still won’t have
- Built-in scheduling & direct social publishing
- Multi-user/team workspaces and collaboration features
- Large template library and built-in image model choices
- Embed SDK, REST scheduling APIs and Zapier/Make integrations
- Hosted media library and brand management UI
What remains hard
- Integration maintenance

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal self-hosted AI carousel generator using Node.js + Express for the backend, PostgreSQL for user/storage metadata, S3-compatible object storage (e.g. DigitalOcean Spaces), and a React frontend. Core features in scope: (1) accept topic/text/URL input, (2) call an LLM API to generate slide text, (3) apply a small set of responsive HTML/CSS templates and render slides to PNG and a single PDF using headless Chromium, (4) let user preview and edit slide text, (5) export/download ZIP of PNGs and PDF, (6) simple user signup/login and per-user asset storage. Out of scope: direct social network scheduling/publishing, multi-tenant team workspaces, large template marketplace, built-in image-generation model orchestration. Include error handling for API failures, background job retries for renders, basic unit and integration tests, Dockerfiles for deployment, and a README with deployment steps and cost estimate for model API and hosting.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 5 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score67
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
