CRM and sales decision
OutboundOS
A small, focused outbound sequencer is realistic to build and maintain by a capable developer (prior art exists), but reproducing the complete commercial product including deliverability, integrations, analytics, and polish is substantial; consider building a narrow workflow or self-hosting existing open-source projects instead.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All OutboundOS alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Import contacts → define outbound sequence → send messages via SMTP/API → track replies and engagement → pause/advance prospects
What it still won’t have
- Enterprise deliverability and warm-up services
- Polished UX and onboarding flows of a paid SaaS
- Prebuilt integrations with CRMs and ad platforms
- Advanced analytics and reporting at scale
- Vendor-managed compliance and deliverability monitoring
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a self-hosted outbound email sequencer using Node.js (Express), React, Postgres, Redis, and BullMQ. Core features in scope: CSV contact import with dedupe and normalization; contact and sequence CRUD; a worker-based sequence engine that schedules sends and follow-ups; SendGrid (or SMTP) integration for sending and webhook handling for replies; contact timeline and basic campaign dashboard. Out of scope: deliverability warm-up services, multi-tenant billing, and prebuilt third-party CRM connectors. Include error handling, input validation, and automated tests (unit + integration for workers). Provide Docker Compose for local dev and a short README with deployment steps.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score64
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
