AI assistants and search decision
No Time To Prompt
A single competent developer can replace the core paste-and-run functionality in about a week using an LLM API and standard web stacks; the vendor's main advantage is UX polish and a large curated template library rather than an unreproducible moat.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All No Time To Prompt alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- User pastes text → backend sends content + selected tool template to an LLM API → receive generated text → show result and allow one-click refinements or copy
What it still won’t have
- Proprietary credit-management and billing UI
- The site's curated library of 100+ hand-crafted tool templates and copywriting guidance
- Polish of the hosted UI, analytics, and UX refinements
- Privacy guarantee wording and any hosted privacy controls (they state inputs are sent to Anthropic and discarded)
What remains hard
- Execution quality
Practical AI tools. No prompts. No faff. Just paste and go.

Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal paste-and-go AI writing web app in Next.js (React) with a Node serverless API that calls an LLM (Anthropic or OpenAI) using the caller's API key. Core features in scope: (1) single-page UI to paste text, pick from 10 starter templates (email reply, product description, pricing pushback), run and show output with copy button and simple one-click refinements; (2) backend endpoint that applies template, calls the model, returns result and latency; (3) per-user run counting stored in SQLite (serverless-friendly) and simple passwordless email sign-in; (4) input validation, error handling, and retry logic for model failures; (5) deploy to Vercel (static + serverless functions) with TLS, logging, and basic monitoring. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing integration, bespoke UX polish, and curated 100-tool library. Include unit tests for API formatting logic, end-to-end test for the core flow, and documentation for setup and env vars.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Build verdict base78
- An open-source build was found+5
- 5 cited sources+3
- Evidence score86
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
