Nestique

A technical user can build a narrow replacement (photo upload, segmentation, inpainting, save/compare) using open models and hosted APIs, but reproducing the full polished mobile product, App Store billing polish, and any proprietary model tuning would be multi-week work and operationally heavier.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • User photos a room → extract furniture/objects → request AI edit or redesign prompt → render edited image variations → save/compare favorite redesigns

What it still won’t have

  • Polished native mobile UX and App Store distribution/management
  • Any proprietary model tuning or dataset the vendor may have used
  • Scale and reliability engineering for many concurrent users
  • Small product niceties (Room Coach chat, polished navigation) and App-Store billing polish

What remains hard

  • Execution quality*SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION Nestique operates on a premium subscription model. All core features, including AI room redesigns, item extraction, style variations, room insights, and before/after sharing, require an active subscription.
  • Execution qualityCapture and save rooms in your personal room library Extract furniture and decor from your photos as reusable items Remove, add, replace, or rearrange objects with AI-assisted edits Generate multiple redesign variations and revisit them any

Runnable build prompt

Build a minimal AI Room Planner as a web service and lightweight iOS wrapper using React (web) + Expo (iOS) frontend, Node.js + Express backend, Postgres for metadata, and S3-compatible object storage. Core features in scope: 1) upload and store room photos; 2) run an image-segmentation step (use Segment Anything or an off-the-shelf API) to extract furniture objects and save crops; 3) call an image inpainting + text-to-image model (stable diffusion + ControlNet or a hosted image-editing API) to remove/replace/restyle objects per user prompt and produce 3 variations; 4) present before/after comparison UI and allow saving favorites; 5) simple subscription entitlement checks via a stripe subscription webhook (or App Store server-side receipt validation if packaging for iOS). Out of scope: training proprietary models, multi-user scaling beyond a small pilot, advanced mobile-native polish, and automated dimension/measurement validation. Include error handling for failed model calls and image uploads, automated tests for backend endpoints, and CI configuration for deployment to a cloud VM. Provide setup docs and scripts to run locally and deploy.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score56

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
