Scheduling and meetings decision
Mypic
A competent developer can build a useful self-hosted booking-and-automation subset (calendar sync, booking page, SMTP/SMS automations) using existing open-source projects like Easy!Appointments, but reproducing Mypic's full polish, multi-provider WhatsApp handling, payments, and production reliability is non-trivial and will require ongoing ops.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Mypic alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- User connects calendar → public booking page accepts bookings → scheduler enforces availability and slot rules → automations send confirmations/reminders via SMTP/SMS/WhatsApp → optional paid events via Stripe
What it still won’t have
- Polished onboarding and UX polish (demo flows, videos, one-click onboarding)
- Enterprise-grade reliability, monitoring, and SLA-backed support
- Built-in WhatsApp integrations with provider approvals and high-volume messaging handling
- Analytics and reporting dashboards tailored to the vendor product
- Ongoing product/security hardening and compliance assurances from a vendor
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt
Build a self-hosted appointment scheduler using Node.js (Express) + Postgres, a React admin + booking UI, and a small worker using BullMQ. Core features in scope: (1) OAuth sync with Google Calendar & Microsoft/Outlook (read/write), (2) public booking page and admin UI to create event types, availability/overrides and per-slot limits, (3) slot computation and booking flow that writes events to connected calendars, (4) templated email via SMTP and SMS webhooks (Twilio/WhatsApp) with scheduled triggers, (5) Stripe integration for paid events, (6) background scheduler for automation triggers and retry logic. Out of scope: multi-account enterprise billing, analytics dashboards beyond basic logs, advanced WhatsApp provider onboarding. Include error handling, retries, logging, unit tests for scheduler and API routes, and Docker compose for local deployment; provide migration scripts and health-check endpoints.

How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 2 cited sources+1
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score62
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
