Logo System

A capable developer can rebuild a usable gallery and moodboard tool in about a week, but reproducing the curated catalog, audience, and sponsorships behind the live site is non-trivial.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Logo System alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Browse curated logo gallery, filter by attributes, open item to view designer/source, and generate a moodboard from a short brief.

What it still won’t have

  • Hand-curated selection and editorial judgment from Logosystem maintainers
  • Existing sponsorship placement relationships and traffic
  • Polish of an established public gallery and accumulated designer links

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a lightweight self-hosted logo inspiration gallery using Next.js (React) + PostgreSQL (or SQLite for low scale) + S3-compatible storage. Core features: (1) bulk ingest pipeline to download logo images, extract dominant colors, and store metadata (designer, tags, original URL); (2) paginated gallery UI with multi-facet filters (type, industry, style, color, shape, mood) and keyword search; (3) item detail page that plays animated logos (video/GIF/MP4) and shows link to original designer; (4) simple moodboard generator endpoint that accepts a short brief, maps to filters/keywords, and returns a curated grid of assets; (5) admin UI to upload and edit entries. Out of scope: training custom ML models, marketplace or payments, advanced analytics. Include error handling, input validation, tests for ingestion and API endpoints, and CI deployment scripts (Dockerfile + GitHub Actions).

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 2 cited sources+1
  • Evidence score58

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
