Design and diagrams decision

Landscapioai

A focused self-hosted version that generates images, produces simple cost estimates, and exports PDFs is realistic for a single technical user in about a week, but you lose the vendor's tuned image pipeline, aggregated regional pricing accuracy, and product polish.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Upload a yard photo → generate a redesigned yard image + cost estimate → download contractor-ready PDF

What it still won’t have

  • The vendor's specific image-model quality and prompt engineering tuned to their pipeline
  • Any proprietary cost-data aggregation and regional pricing that informs their ±15% estimates
  • Priority generation/performance and premium support available to paid customers
  • Lifetime membership features and product roadmap influence

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Build a minimal LandscapioAI-like web app using Next.js + React for frontend, Node.js + Express for API, Postgres for storage, and deploy on Vercel (frontend) + small Heroku/Render or Cloud Run service for backend. Core features in scope: 1) authenticated image upload (JPG/PNG/WebP ≤10MB) with preview and validation; 2) image-to-image generation integration using a hosted image-generation API (abstract via adapter); 3) deterministic cost estimator module (area-based rules, material/labor tables) and a small climate-zone plant-list lookup; 4) export contractor-ready PDF combining before/after images, line-item cost estimate, plant list, and brief specs; 5) simple UI for design revisions and unlimited generates per account. Out of scope: training custom models, large-scale analytics, marketplace or contractor bidding, and lifetime-pass billing mechanics. Require error handling for upload failures and API timeouts, input validation, user-facing retry/backoff, and unit tests for estimator logic and integration tests for upload → generation → PDF pipeline.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • 2 cited sources+1
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score60

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
