Grafics

A competent developer can reproduce the core workflow (brand extraction → image generation → scheduling) in a few weeks, but Grafics' production polish, multi-social connectors, analytics, and curated generation quality are expensive to match and justify keeping the paid product for teams.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Grafics alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • User supplies website URL → service extracts brand assets (logo, colors, fonts) → generate image creatives from templates + image-generation API → allow lightweight edits → schedule posts and publish to social APIs.

What it still won’t have

  • Proprietary designer-tuned generation + curated templates and iterations
  • Breadth and reliability of built-in social integrations (ready connectors for multiple brands)
  • Polish of the hosted UI, analytics, and team/collaboration features
  • Credits/usage bundling and customer support

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a self-hosted minimal Grafics replacement using Node.js (Express), React, Postgres, and Docker. Core features in scope: (1) a scraper endpoint that accepts a website URL and extracts logo, dominant colors, and web fonts; (2) a template-driven creative generator that composes text and images and calls an image-generation API (Stable Diffusion or OpenAI Images) to render visuals; (3) a simple React-based image/text editor for swapping copy and exporting PNG; (4) a calendar UI that stores scheduled posts in Postgres and a worker that posts to Instagram/Facebook/LinkedIn via their APIs (or via Buffer's API) at scheduled times; (5) user account and single-brand workspace. Out of scope: multi-tenant agency dashboards, advanced A/B analytics, and training proprietary models. Include input validation, error handling, CI tests for API routes, Docker Compose deployment manifest, and basic monitoring/logging (Prometheus or simple health endpoints).

  • 3 cited sources+3
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score67

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
