Creator and commerce decision

DropPop

A capable developer can build a narrow dropshipping marketplace MVP (catalogue, checkout, supplier forwarding, simple recommendations), but reproducing any marketplace liquidity, supplier network, or production-grade ops the vendor provides is not realistic without additional resources.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • List products, accept buyer orders, forward orders to suppliers, and show simple AI-driven product recommendations.

What it still won’t have

  • existing supplier relationships and negotiated margins
  • brand recognition and marketplace liquidity
  • any proprietary AI models or bundled data the vendor might provide
  • production-grade fraud detection and chargeback handling

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Build a minimal dropshipping marketplace web app using Next.js (React) + Tailwind, a Node.js/Express API, Postgres on managed hosting (Supabase or RDS), Stripe for payments, and SendGrid for transactional email. Core features in scope: product catalogue CRUD with image uploads to S3, public product browsing with search and filters, buyer checkout that creates orders and charges via Stripe, supplier onboarding and webhook/email-based order forwarding, basic admin UI for order and product management, and a simple AI recommendation service (host an OpenAI or other embedding model; serve nearest-neighbor recommendations). Out of scope: multi-vendor payouts, advanced fraud prevention, large-scale CDN tuning, custom-trained proprietary models. Include error handling for payment failures and supplier webhooks, automated tests for API endpoints, and a Docker-based deployment pipeline with IaC (Terraform or Pulumi) for DB and S3.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score56

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
