SEO and marketing decision

Distribb

A single technical user can build the core buyer-intent research, article generation, CMS publishing, and basic backlink tracking, but the paid product’s backlink exchange/marketplace and managed outreach/sending are durable pieces you cannot reproduce cheaply, so keeping the paid service is reasonable for the full workflow.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Automate buy-intent keyword discovery, generate SEO-optimized long-form articles with cited sources, and publish them to a CMS via webhook or plugin; optionally draft contextual backlink outreach emails and track received backlinks.

What it still won’t have

  • Access to Distribb’s proprietary backlink exchange network that automatically places contextual links from other businesses
  • Distribb-managed warmed inboxes and outbound follow-ups (Accelerator sending service)
  • Built-in coverage/monitoring of AI-engine citations across five AI engines as a packaged metric
  • Polished one-click integrations and official WordPress plugin delivered by the vendor

What remains hard

  • Marketplace liquidityDistribb helps you earn contextual links through a network of real businesses, building the authority that supports stronger visibility in Google and AI search.
  • Brand trustTrusted by 500+ Businesses

Build a minimal self-hosted Distribb replacement: backend in Node.js + Express, Postgres for storage, React admin UI, scheduler via node-cron, deploy on a single VPS (DigitalOcean) or Heroku. Core features in-scope: (1) buyer-intent keyword discovery using a SERP/keywords API, (2) generate SEO-optimized long-form articles with cited sources using an LLM (OpenAI-compatible), (3) produce HTML and Markdown article bodies, (4) publish via a webhook and provide a WordPress plugin endpoint that upserts posts by slug (match the payload schema in https://distribb.io/docs), (5) simple content calendar UI and scheduled publishes, (6) scheduled backlink checks (HTTP HEAD/HTML parse) and store link records, and (7) generate outreach email drafts from templates (do not auto-send). Out of scope: building a reciprocal backlink exchange marketplace, warmed sender infrastructure, multi-engine AI-citation monitoring, and white-label 'done-for-you' social publishing. Include authentication, error handling, unit tests for webhook handling and publish flows, and docs for installing the WordPress plugin and configuring webhook secrets.

  • Evidence score20

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
