Creator and commerce decision
ClipMarc
A single developer can build a narrow clipping-and-payout workflow, but the product's value largely depends on audience, trust, and moderation—things hard to reproduce; full parity with the hosted service is unlikely without community and distribution.

Not priced
No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.

No published price to break even against.
No open-source build does this yet
Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.
What a replacement has to do
- Accept short-form clips from contributors, track aggregated views across platforms, credit earnings at a rate per-views, and pay out creators.
What it still won’t have
- Established audience and distribution for Marc Lou clips
- Brand recognition and trust that attracts contributors
- Any exclusive platform partnerships or integrations
- Existing contributor community and network effects
- Proven fraud detection and moderation tuned to this niche
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal clip-reward platform using Node.js (Express), Postgres, React, and S3 for storage. Core features in scope: authenticated user upload page (video file upload, metadata), background job to fetch or scrape view counts from target short-form platforms and store normalized metrics, earnings calculation service applying $3 per 1,000 views, per-user balance ledger, Stripe Connect-based payout flow, and a basic admin dashboard to review and approve clips. Out of scope: advanced fraud detection, ML-based content moderation, native mobile apps, and building an audience. Include robust error handling, logging, and automated tests for upload, view ingestion, earnings calc, and payout paths. Provide deployment scripts for a single AWS EC2 or managed container and instructions to rotate API keys and configure cron jobs.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- 3 cited sources+3
- Evidence score55
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
