Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All ClawBox alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Run a private OpenClaw instance that accepts messages from WhatsApp/Telegram, routes user requests to an LLM, runs scheduled tasks, stores encrypted conversation memory, and executes integrations (email, browser automation, etc.).

What it still won’t have

  • Managed one-minute deployment and moneyback guarantee
  • Curated skills and built-in curated integrations
  • Dedicated support and billing/UI dashboard
  • Bundled $10/mo AI credits and claimed curated security defaults

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a self-hosted OpenClaw deployment using the openclaw/openclaw repository on a single VPS (Ubuntu 22.04) with Docker Compose. Stack: Docker Compose for containers, Postgres or SQLite for metadata, encrypted filesystem (LUKS) for conversation storage, Nginx reverse proxy with TLS, and a small job runner (cron or Celery). Core features in scope: deploy OpenClaw containers, configure model-provider adapter (Anthropic/Claude or OpenAI) with env vars, implement WhatsApp and Telegram webhook adapters, enable scheduled tasks, encrypted persistent storage, and an admin dashboard for credentials and basic logs. Out of scope: reimplementing OpenClaw core agent logic or training models. Include TLS, basic auth for the dashboard, input validation, error handling, and automated smoke tests for message flow, webhook connectivity, and scheduled job execution.

How the score was reached

  • Build verdict base78
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 4 cited sources+3
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • Evidence score89

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
