CRM and sales decision
Bigin
A small team or single competent developer can implement a functional, self-hosted mini-CRM that covers core pipelines and contact management, but matching Bigin's hosted scale, integrations, telephony, AI agents, and compliance guarantees would be costly and slow to reproduce.

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. What a replacement has to do
- A minimal CRM that stores contacts, tracks deals in a single visual pipeline, logs activities, and imports CSV leads; includes basic search, simple automation triggers, and email sending via SMTP/SendGrid.
What it still won’t have
- Built-in telephony (in-app calling, call recordings, call routing)
- Official WhatsApp integration and other 1st‑party channel integrations
- Native mobile apps and polished multi-platform UX
- Enterprise certifications and compliance guarantees (ISO/GDPR/SOC2/HIPAA enforcement)
- Zoho ecosystem integrations, onboarding support, and hosted scale
What remains hard
- Brand trust
150+ Million users run their business on Zoho’s platform.

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal self-hosted CRM in Node.js (Express) + React, Postgres for storage, and Redis for background jobs. Implement: authentication (email/password, roles), Contacts and Deals with a visual pipeline UI, CSV import with field mapping and dedupe, basic search over contacts, email send/receive via SendGrid+IMAP (associate incoming messages with contacts), and a basic workflow engine (triggers: new contact, stage change; actions: send email, create task). Out of scope: built-in telephony, WhatsApp API, mobile apps, and enterprise compliance certification. Include error handling, background job retries, input validation, and unit + integration tests; provide Docker compose for local dev and a production deployment guide (managed Postgres, app host, SSL).

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
