Ayoa
A capable developer can build a useful single-user or small-team mind-mapping + task board replacement in ~30 hours, but reproducing Ayoa’s polished multi-user collaboration, native apps, integrations, and enterprise assurances would be significantly more work and cost.

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Ayoa alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Create mind maps, convert nodes into tasks, track tasks on visual boards and timelines, and store/sync user data.
What it still won’t have
- Mature real-time collaboration and multi-user presence polish
- Mobile native apps and cross-platform installers
- Enterprise security/compliance assurances and certifications
- Polished AI prompts and integrated AI features
- Existing 3rd-party integrations and importers
What remains hard
- Compliance and regulation

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a single-tenant web app (Next.js + React + TypeScript frontend, Node.js + Express backend, Postgres database) that lets a signed-in user create/edit visual mind maps, save them to Postgres, convert map nodes into tasks, view tasks on a Kanban-style board and a simple Gantt timeline, and export maps as PNG/SVG. Include JWT auth, basic file attachments (S3), and REST endpoints for CRUD. Out of scope: multi-user real-time presence, mobile native apps, advanced AI generation (provide an optional integration point to call OpenAI). Provide error handling, automated tests for API endpoints, and a containerized Docker deploy to AWS ECS or similar.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 5 cited sources+3
- Hard moats found in the evidence-3
- Evidence score57
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
