AI assistants and search decision

Aymo AI

A capable technical user can build a useful, narrower self-hosted workspace (chat, PDF summarize, compare two model APIs) using existing open-source projects, but reproducing Aymo’s full hosted aggregation of 50+ models, polished team UX, and built-in hosted model access is larger in scope and operational cost—so build a subset or self-host prior-art instead.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Aymo AI alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Accept user input or file, attach conversation context, call one or more model provider APIs, display responses and allow switching/compare results, store conversation and files for a workspace.

What it still won’t have

  • Built-in access to 52+ preconnected AI models and hosted model credits
  • Polished multi-model catalog, regular model additions and comparisons for many vendors
  • Vendor-hosted team management at scale, commercial support and SLA
  • Chrome extension and other packaged productivity integrations
  • The product’s advertised encryption and enterprise privacy controls as audited claims

Runnable build prompt

Build a minimal self-hosted multi-model AI workspace: frontend in Next.js + Tailwind, backend Node.js/Express, Postgres for users/workspaces/messages, S3-compatible file storage, and Redis for rate-limiting. Integrate two provider APIs (OpenAI + Anthropic) via server-side proxy with per-user API key support (BYOK). Implement: user signup/login (JWT), workspace creation/invite, chat UI with message history, file upload + server-side PDF text extraction and context injection, a model-compare endpoint that fans out a prompt to both providers and returns responses side-by-side, and admin UI to view usage. Out of scope: connecting 50+ models, building a browser extension, enterprise billing, and audited encryption at rest. Include robust error handling, unit and integration tests for API endpoints, and deployment scripts (Docker + Terraform for a small cloud instance).

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
