Aibrandkits

A capable technical user can build a useful, smaller replacement in about one week; the site shows no durable moats or proprietary data that prevent self-hosting or reimplementation.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Aibrandkits alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • User supplies a URL or palette → app extracts or proposes colors/typography/tokens → user refines in UI → export DESIGN.md and asset files.

What it still won’t have

  • Polished commercial UI/UX and copywriting
  • Built-in gallery of curated kits and blog/SEO content
  • Chrome extension and any proprietary integrations
  • Commercial agent rules, curated prompts, and convenience features
  • Ongoing platform polish, analytics dashboard, and user account management

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a minimal AI Brand Kit web app (stack: Next.js + React for frontend, Node.js/Express for backend, Postgres for optional persistence, and OpenAI-compatible text/image API). Core features in scope: 1) URL importer that fetches a page, screenshots it, parses CSS and extracts dominant colors and fonts; 2) generator that proposes semantic color tokens and font pairings (server-side prompts to an LLM); 3) an editable UI to tweak colors, fonts, and tokens with live preview templates; 4) exports: DESIGN.md, tokens.json, Tailwind config snippet, and ZIP of assets; 5) user account signup (email-only) and per-user kit storage. Out of scope: Chrome extension, commercial gallery, multi-tenant billing, advanced agents marketplace. Require error handling for network/remote-API failures, input validation, background job retries for long-running extraction, and unit/integration tests for extraction, export, and API routes.

How the score was reached

  • Build verdict base78
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 2 cited sources+1
  • Evidence score84

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
