Audio and podcasting decision

Yado

A capable engineer can build a narrow replacement (iOS client + small session manager) but reproducing the full polished experience and reliable ephemeral session infrastructure is non-trivial, so paying for Yado is reasonable unless you only need a limited workflow.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Start and manage a Claude Code session from iPhone, interact via chat or terminal, and get notified when tasks finish.

What it still won’t have

  • Tight integration with Claude Code as offered by Yado
  • Polish of native iOS UX and long-term reliability tuning
  • Built-in encrypted token handling and the exact ephemeral-worker lifecycle Yado uses

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Build a minimal self-hosted replacement for Yado: iOS SwiftUI client + Node/TypeScript server on a $5–$20/mo VPS (DigitalOcean). In scope: GitHub sign-up or OAuth flow, accept/link user's Claude credentials and store them encrypted on-device, server endpoints to create and manage ephemeral remote sessions (session create, keepalive, expire after 72h), proxying chat/terminal I/O between iOS and remote session, APNs notifications for task completion, and an App Store in-app purchase flag to unlock Pro features (voice input and parallel agents). Out of scope: reimplementing Claude Code itself or hosting Claude model inference, advanced analytics, and multi-tenant billing. Include input validation, error handling, unit tests for server endpoints, and basic end-to-end test of session lifecycle and push notifications.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score59

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
