Automation and integrations decision

U Never Sleep

A capable developer can build a narrow self-hosted Upwork proposal automator (job fetch → LLM drafts → reviewer UI → send), but reproducing the vendor's human-sender network, agency eligibility handling, and production polish/scale is not realistic as a one-person replacement.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Fetch matching jobs from Upwork API, generate tailored proposal text with an LLM, present proposals in a review UI for a human to approve/edit, send approved proposals via an agency submission flow, store history and metrics.

What it still won’t have

  • Access to U Never Sleep's pool of human Business Managers who handle sending
  • The vendor's verification/agency-eligibility handling and guidance
  • Priority job matching and any proprietary ranking tweaks
  • Built-in customer support, SLAs, and production analytics as offered
  • Public aggregate proof/marketing and the integrated free optimizer UX

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Build a minimal self-hosted Upwork proposal autopilot using Node.js (TypeScript) backend, React frontend, and Postgres. Core features: (1) Upwork API integration with OAuth/agency-access and a job-matching endpoint that polls or responds to webhooks; (2) LLM-based proposal generator (OpenAI-compatible API) with per-profile templates and prompt storage; (3) scheduled job processor to create draft proposals and queue them; (4) reviewer UI to view/edit/approve drafts and view proposal history; (5) submission module to send approved proposals via an Agency account flow and persist delivery status; (6) basic metrics dashboard and per-user settings. Out of scope: recruiting or providing human Business Managers, handling Upwork eligibility adjudication, advanced analytics, or multi-tenant billing. Include input validation, OAuth error handling, retry/backoff for network calls, structured logging, unit and integration tests, and a Docker Compose deployment for local/self-hosted use.

  • Evidence score55

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
