Websites and hosting decision
Typedream
A small team can reproduce a useful subset (editor + publish + forms + Stripe) using prior open-source builders, but the full hosted product (polish, template library, built-in hosting, analytics, and ongoing UX improvements) is costly to match; keep paying if you need the turnkey hosted experience.
Visit website↗Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need — the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship.
What a replacement has to do
- Create pages by assembling prebuilt blocks/templates, publish a site to a custom domain, collect form submissions, manage simple CMS/blog posts, and sell digital products (payments).
What it still won’t have
- Polished visual editor and extensive template library
- Built-in hosting with one-click deploy/CDN
- Out-of-the-box analytics and email-marketing integration
- Polished payment UX and built-in transaction handling
- Ongoing product improvements, changelog, and official support

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal no-code website-builder in Node.js (Express) + PostgreSQL + React. Include: a block-based editor (slash-menu inserting prebuilt blocks), template library (3 templates), static site render & publish step that deploys built HTML/CSS to an S3+CloudFront bucket, custom-domain setup (DNS instructions and automated ACME cert provisioning), a CMS for blog posts and product metadata (Postgres + REST API), form capture endpoint storing submissions and sending a webhook, and Stripe integration for selling digital products with download links. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing portal, team/collaboration features beyond one admin, analytics dashboard beyond basic visit logging. Provide error handling, input validation, unit tests for backend routes, and a README with deploy steps and costs.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 5 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- Evidence score63
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
