Project and task management decision
Tody
A capable developer can reproduce the core scheduling and gamified to-do workflow, but the complete product (polished native apps, store presence, and large userbase) is costly to match, so keep paying unless you only need a narrow replacement.
Visit website↗Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need — the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship.
What a replacement has to do
- Generate prioritized cleaning tasks based on per-item 'dueness', present them in a visual list, track completions and adjust priorities.
What it still won’t have
- Polished native mobile UX and App Store / Play Store presence
- Existing user base and accumulated reviews/ratings
- Cross-device polish and long-term product refinement (gamification tuning)
- 30-day free-trial conversion funnel and subscription management
What remains hard
- Brand trust

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a cross-platform cleaning-planner web app (React + TypeScript frontend, Node.js + Express backend, PostgreSQL, and Firebase Auth or Auth0 for authentication). In scope: task/room CRUD with per-task cleanliness metrics, a scheduler that computes task 'dueness' and generates a prioritized to-do list, user accounts with device sync, a visual dashboard showing rooms and progress, a simple gamification layer (Dusty counter, points, monthly challenge), focus timer, push/notification hooks, and subscription check stubs. Out of scope: native App Store packaging, multiple-language localization, advanced analytics, and payment processing. Include error handling, tests for scheduler logic, and basic CI to run unit tests.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score64
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
