Health, home and travel decision

Terraguard

A capable developer can build a functional replacement of the core photo-triage, logging, reminders, and PDF export in about a week, but matching the app's breadth, tuned AI triage quality across many species, and App Store polish is harder and would take more effort.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • User snaps photo → image is analyzed with species/context → triage result stored on pet timeline → reminders and care logs updated → vet-prep PDF export

What it still won’t have

  • App Store distribution, reviews, and existing user base
  • Tuned AI triage behavior and any proprietary training or curation not provided by generic models
  • Polished iOS UX, widgets, and lock-screen integrations
  • Anonymous Apple-account subscription handling and in-app purchase plumbing

What remains hard

  • Execution qualityWe also improved overall performance, reliability, and the interface.

Runnable build prompt

Build a minimal TerraGuard-like iOS app with a Node.js + Express backend, Postgres for structured data, S3-compatible object storage for photos, and a hosted vision API (eg. OpenAI/Replicate) for image triage. Core features in scope: iOS photo capture and upload, per-animal species-aware profiles, UI for photo timeline and simple logs (feeding, weight, shedding), send photo+context to a vision model and render a 4-level triage result, recurring reminders with local push notifications, and one-button PDF export of last 30 days (weight chart, feeding log, photo timeline). Out of scope: training custom models, multi-tenant billing/Apple IAP server-side reconciliation, App Store submission polish, and advanced husbandry calculators. Include error handling for failed uploads and model calls, background retry for uploads, unit tests for backend endpoints, and end-to-end UI tests for core flows.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score56

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
